The Amazon Fire TV Stick is the most common way people watch OrigineTV, and it is the setup we are asked about most. The whole process takes about four minutes and does not involve modifying the device — everything here uses Amazon's own tools.
Step one: allow apps from unknown sources
Open Settings from the Fire TV home bar, go to My Fire TV, then Developer Options. Switch on Apps from Unknown Sources. On newer sticks the Developer Options entry is hidden until you open About, highlight your device name and click it seven times.
Step two: install Downloader
Search the Amazon Appstore for Downloader — the orange icon published by AFTVnews. Install it, open it once, and accept the storage permission so it can save what it fetches.
Step three: install your player and sign in
Enter the address from your welcome email into Downloader's URL box. It downloads the recommended player and offers to install it. Once installed, choose the Xtream Codes login option and paste in the username, password and server address we sent you. The guide populates in about thirty seconds.
The three settings that fix most stuttering
- Power the stick from the mains adapter, not the television's USB port. Under-powering is the single most common cause of stuttering.
- Use the 5GHz band on your router rather than 2.4GHz, or run an Ethernet adapter if the stick sits near the router.
- In the player's settings, set the decoder to hardware rather than software. Fire TV hardware decoding is far more efficient.
